With Easter 2025 closing in fast Prescott Speed Hill Climb, following tradition since 1938, opened its doors, inviting those planning to race this season a chance to go testing. And seeing as the weather promised sunshine and blue skies (last year, oh, how it rained!), I booked a place.
For a long time I have wanted to put my Alfa Romeo Brera Prodrive Limited Edition to the test, and now seemed the perfect opportunity. Target, to beat 60 seconds. My first run, a disappointing 63 something or other, was very average. However, without too much trouble, by lunchtime my time had tumbled and hovered at a tantalising 60.44.
First afternoon run and the 60 seconds was cracked when the timing clock blinked 59.90. I was on a roll. But then it rained. Not much, but enough. So that was it. Time for tea and to put Alfie back in the toy box until next time. Which maybe sooner than I think.
