BOOK REVIEW  By Peter Baker

Exceptional Cars Series 11 - SS Jaguar 100: The remarkable history of 18008

Any car that survives 80 years can be counted a rarity. When, during that time the same car has been used consistently in competition, certainly up until September 2022, when it finished 7th in the Pre-War race at Spa, it must rate as something very special. If BWK 77 had been born a painting it would now be hanging next to a Turner in the National Gallery.

Howver, this superb if somewhat precis of the history of Jaguar SS 100, chassis number 18008 (just 126 pages, including at least 10 in the opening paragraph given over to waffle), has been compiled by marque expert Chas Parker, and thus is a great way to while away an autumn evening reading, maybe with a glass of malt whisky balanced within arm’s reach.

With a cover price of just £35.00 and published by our friends over at Porter Press, Exceptional Cars 11 – SS Jaguar 100 is available direct from the publisher, and at a slightly discounted price by quoting RETRO10 at the Checkout.
