Formula 1: Car By Car 2000-2009 Book review by Peter Baker
This is a very good book. I could leave it at that but, although it sums the book up nicely, I’m not sure the publishers would feel I was giving them value-for-money. And talking of value, this in depth, sixth in the series, race team analysis, with each year given its own chapter, each written by acknowledged expert Peter Higham, is simply crammed with memorable colour pictures and lengthy well-worded captions, stretching over 300.
The era is dominated by one driver, Michael Schumacher, and of course Ferrari, before, in 2008, Lewis Hamilton announced his arrival by winning the Driver’s Championship. Something else changed, Murray Walker hung up his microphone, making way for a stream of replacement students of the game, yet to understand the meaning of controlled emotion and homework. Be that as it may, collect all volumes available from Evro Publishing (or via eBay) and you’ll enjoy picking through this self-contained reference library on Formula 1 for a long time to come.
Perfect for those quiz nights and thoroughly recommended. Now let’s see, how many races did David Coulthard finish in 2004?
